F'Meet our Locomotives' brings together operational and
other information about the locomotives here at the
Dee Valley Railway. This information previously appeared
on our 'News' page.
We hope that you will like this new format and that the
information, which is updated regularly, will be useful to you.
Locomotives in use . . .
This item, which is usually updated on Friday afternoon or evening for
the following week's services, gives details of the locomotives that we
expect to be operating during the next seven days.
Operational locomotives . . .
These are the locomotives that are available to operate our train service. It may not be possible to see all of these locomotives on the day of your visit as some will be receiving routine maintenance in our workshops. We regret that casual admission to our workshops is not permitted.
Non-operational steam locomotives in storage or in course of restoration . . .
These locomotives are usually in our workshops at Aberdare. We regret that casual admission to our workshops is not permitted.
Operational & non-operational diesel locomotives . . .
Diesel locomotives usually operate during the summer months on various services in addition to our normal steam operated trains. When not in service most of our diesel locomotives are not available to view from public areas of the railway.
Former visiting locomotives...
At special events and during the main summer months visiting locomotives are normally hired to add variety to our main fleet of steam and diesel locomotives, this section will list all the locomotives that have visited the railway over the years.
