MEMBERSHIP

Membership of the Dee Valley Railway is a great way to become part of one of the UK’s leading heritage railways. Not only do members receive a series of privileges, membership also can be the first step to joining our volunteer team who are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the line.

Why not find out more today...

The Dee Valley Railway is a not for profit privately owned railway operating regular steam-hauled passenger trains between Garth Y Dwr and Aberdare Junction.

Around 200,000 people travel with us every year.

It is not so well known that the people who operate the railway are unpaid volunteers, all of whom are members of the Dee Valley Railway Company.

The same organisation also supplies both financial and administrative support to the owning company, Dee Valley Railway (Holdings) PLC. The record of such assistance is most impressive.

Operating a 150 year-old steam railway, comprising earthworks, track, buildings, signalling, locomotives and rolling stock is an expensive business, and even more so as we advance through the 21st century.

The ongoing support from our members and freely given contributions from our volunteers in terms of their time is essential in ensuring the continued viability and success of the Railway.

Why not join us. . .

You don’t need to work on the Railway to support it, indeed our members are located all over the world - but if you would like to become a volunteer on the railway, our Volunteer Liaison Officer will be happy to hear from you.

Your generous support will help us to keep the Dee Valley Railway operating for future generations to experience.

Membership benefits. . .

Reduced price train travel.

Regular members’ magazine – includes updates on the railway and advance notice of new initiatives  and special events.

Special members’ weekend - an opportunity to see behind the scenes, with many areas usually closed to the public specially opened for members to visit.

Opportunity to become a volunteer and help keep the railway running.

Helping to save an important part of Britain’s heritage for future generations to enjoy.
