Our carriages . . .

 

Specially adapted vehicles, which allow wheelchair access, are available on certain trains. Disability friendly toilets are also fitted in these vehicles.

At all stations, excluding Bonwm Halt and Llanbedrog, ramps are available which connect between the train and the platform. The train crew and station staff will assist passengers in wheelchairs if required, they are used to doing this.

At Christmas we strongly recommend all wheelchair users to seek advice prior to booking. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK YOUR TICKETS ONLINE FOR OUR CHRISTMAS SERVICES.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Restaurant Car Trains . . .

 

Because our fleet of historic dining vehicles were built many years ago the width of the doors and gangways does not permit the positioning of a wheelchair at a dining table. Passengers with disabilities are more than welcome to dine on our services and our staff will do their utmost to provide seating which is close to doors and gangways. Folded wheelchairs can be carried on all trains. Please ask at the time of booking.

 

Our stations . . .

 

Please remember that our stations were built in the 1860s and, as such, pose some operational difficulties.

At Lleyn Central - Designated bays are situated immediately in front of the station building. These bays are heavily used. We advise drivers to ‘drop off’ passengers who have mobility problems at the door of the station. 

At Aberdare Junction - Designated bays are situated immediately in front of the station building. These bays are adjacent to the platform for trains to Garth Y Dwr. The toilets are also nearby.

At Garth Y Dwer, Llanbedrog & Aberdare - Parking is very limited at these countryside stations. We do not recommend that disabled visitors park here.
 

When thinking about parking it is important to remember that the Railway is extremely busy during certain special events. On these dates parking at our main stations is strongly recommended.

 

Toilets. . .

 

There are toilets at all stations, excluding the halts. Toilets with full disabled access are available at Garth Y Dwer, Lleyn Central and Aberdare Junction. The toilets at Aberdare have ramped access but are not specifically adapted for wheelchair users. All trains have toilets but these are generally small. Most specially adapted disabled vehicles have 'less able friendly' toilet facilities.
